THE EXPERIENCE

BEYOND THE RIVER.
INTO ITS WORLD.

Travel deeper into the landscapes, communities and living cultures of the Rajang —

exploring by river, forest and foot before returning each evening to the comfort of your floating home.

THE RAJANG

THE RIVER IS
THE JOURNEY

The Rajang is more than the route we follow. It is the thread connecting the landscapes, communities and cultures of Sarawak’s interior.

For generations, the river has carried people, food, stories, trade and traditions between settlements that grew along its banks. Travelling slowly by river reveals those connections in a way that road travel cannot.

MALAYSIA'S LONGEST RIVER.
A DIFFERENT WAY INTO BORNEO.
HIDDEN WATERWAYS

LEAVE THE MAIN
RIVER BEHIND

Some of the journey’s most memorable moments begin where the mother vessel cannot go.

Transfer to our smaller expedition vessel and venture into tributaries, narrow channels and secluded waterways beyond the main Rajang. Here, the scale changes. The riverbanks draw closer. Nipa palms, rainforest and river life surround the vessel as your guide reveals the smaller details of an environment shaped by water.

SMALLER VESSEL. CLOSER PERSPECTIVE. DEEPER EXPLORATION.
LIVING COMMUNITIES

MEET BORNEO
THROUGH ITS PEOPLE

Along the Rajang, the river connects communities whose lives have been shaped by the surrounding forest, water and generations of local knowledge.

Our journeys create opportunities to visit longhouses, villages and river communities, learning through the people who live there rather than simply observing from a distance.

THE PEOPLE OF THE RAJANG ARE NOT A SIDESTORY TO THE JOURNEY.
THEY ARE PART OF WHAT GIVES THE RIVER ITS MEANING.

RAINFOREST EXPLORATION

STEP OFF THE RIVER
INTO THE RAINFOREST

The expedition does not end at the riverbank. Guided walks lead into Borneo’s tropical environment, where the experience shifts from sweeping landscapes to the details beneath the canopy — ferns, plants, insects, forest textures and signs of life easily missed when travelling quickly.

Treks are designed as exploration rather than endurance, allowing time to observe and understand the environment around you.

Selected rainforest walks are moderate and may involve uneven, slippery or occasionally steep terrain.

LIVING HERITAGE

TRADITIONS THAT
ARE STILL LIVED

Along the Rajang, heritage is not confined to display cases. It can still be found in the skills, objects, music and knowledge passed between generations.

Depending on the journey and community, guests may encounter weaving, basketry, traditional boatbuilding, fishing-net making, music, dance and other forms of craftsmanship connected to everyday river life.

A TASTE OF THE RAJANG

AS THE RIVER CHANGES,
SO DO THE FLAVOURS.

Food becomes another way of reading the river. Markets reveal jungle produce and ingredients brought in from surrounding communities. Seasonal orchards introduce fruits grown along the Rajang. Local fish and freshwater prawns reflect the river itself.

Onboard, these discoveries continue through locally inspired dishes, tastings and selected hands-on activities, alongside Malaysian, Chinese and international flavours.

MARKETS & PRODUCE

Discover ingredients and jungle produce alongside your guide and chef.

FROM RIVER TO TABLE

Selected local ingredients and river produce become part of the onboard dining experience.

COOK, TASTE, DISCOVER

Participatory activities introduce flavours and ingredients connected to Sarawak.

AFTER SUNSET

THE RIVER
DOESN'T SLEEP.

When daylight disappears, the character of the river changes. On selected journeys, head out after dark to experience the waterways from a different perspective, listening and watching for the nocturnal life that emerges along the riverbanks.

Crocodiles and other wildlife may sometimes be encountered, but nature follows its own rhythm — sightings can never be guaranteed.

NATURE SETS THE SCHEDULE.

EXPEDITION BY DAY. COMFORT BY NIGHT.

Exploration does not mean giving up comfort. At the end of each day’s experiences, return to an intimate expedition vessel designed for just 32 guests.

Settle into your private ensuite cabin, enjoy dinner in the air-conditioned dining room, relax with a drink on deck or simply watch the Rajang pass by. The vessel is more than transportation. For several days, it becomes your home on the river.

TRAVEL THAT GIVES BACK

THE JOURNEY SHOULD MATTER
TO THOSE WHO CALL IT HOME.

As tourism reaches further along the river, its value should travel with it. Our approach is to work with local communities, guides, producers, performers, craftspeople and service providers wherever the journey allows, creating opportunities for tourism spending to remain connected to the places guests visit.

LOCAL PARTICIPATION

Local people contribute knowledge, guiding, food, cultural experiences and services along the journey.

LOCAL ECONOMIC VALUE

Where practical, produce, services and experiences are sourced from communities and businesses connected to the Rajang.

RESPECT FOR PLACE

Visits are designed around respectful encounters with communities, culture and natural environments rather than treating them simply as attractions.

TOURISM SHOULD LEAVE VALUE WHERE IT TRAVELS.
